"Meditation is not evasion; it is a serene encounter with reality."

Join us for a two day/two night silent Vipassana meditation retreat. Vipassana means to see things as they really are. It is often defined as a practice that seeks "insight into the true nature of reality." This retreat is for those new to meditation, as well as experienced meditators.
This method was taught in India more than 2500 years ago as a universal remedy to the human condition, an 'art of living' that is still a potent path for personal transformation. It is a method of mental purification which allows one to face life's tensions and problems in a calm, balanced way.
In addition to several sitting meditations each day there will be walking forest meditations and fire gazing meditations each evening.
Stacey Small, L.Ac Licensed Acupuncturist and herbalist will be facilitating the weekend. Stacey has been meditating for more than 25 years. She still considers herself a novice but looks forward to sharing what she has learned from her teachers and through her direct experiences.
Nicole Love of Soul Gratitude will guide us on a sound healing journey Saturday evening. The sounds and vibrations of the gongs help the brain reach deep states of relaxation – specifically the delta and theta brain wave states, which are known to aid relaxation, creativity and natural healing.
Laura Johnson, PhD, RYT-500, TCYM will be facilitating a yoga for ecological grief session. This class braids together meditation and breath practices; mudras; yin and restorative poses; and readings, poetry, and practices from Joanna Macy, Pema Chodron, Thich Nhat Hanh, Francis Weller, and many other wise teachers for these times.
"Grief is not a problem to be solved, not a condition to be medicated, but a deep encounter with an essential experience of being human." ~Francis Weller
It is going to be an incredible weekend of deep connection to self, community and nature. This is a camping event held in Fieldbrook, CA on a 5 acre property with access to trails and a tranquil creek. Facilities will be rustic (ie compost toilet and outdoor sink for washing).
Meals: Traditionally Vipassana retreats do not offer dinner or any food in the evenings. We will be providing dinner the first evening before the retreat officially begins. Breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks will be provided (all vegetarian) during the retreat. We will be offering tea and snacks on Saturday evening for those that would like.
Cost: Vipassana meditation retreats are generally by donation. Typically the donations from one retreat go to pay for the next. Since we are not offering ongoing retreats we would like to keep the retreat donation based but because all of the food/food prep service will be provided we are asking for $100 per participant to cover food expenses. Then if people want to leave donations for the facilitators at the end of the retreat there will be an opportunity to do so.
Space is very limited. There will be a maximum of 10 participants. For questions and to reserve your space please call Stacey at 310.985.3780 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
